Outburst energy bites

Ok so I love candy as much as I love caffeine. When it us chocolate candy that is even better. Along comes outburst with 3 flavors of caffeinated chocolates. These are candy coated like an M&M with a crispy shell. Let’s see how they taste and kick.

Packaging:  Ok so these come in a slim little box with a flip top lid. It is sealed in cellophane. I like how the lid has a little flap that keep it closed yet it is easy to open. On the front is the colorful Outburst logo and then the flavor is on the lid. The back of the box has the logo again as well as an explanation of caffeine content and usage. Overall not a bad package. It catches the eye and should do well at the checkout counter. Grade B

Slogan: “More buzz for your buck” is on the web site and it is a good idea. They are pushing the value of the product when compared to other sources of caffeine. Grade C+

Taste:

• Milk Chocolate:  Comes in a dark brown candy shell. It is very solid and crunchy. The chocolate itself tends to lean towards a darker chocolate taste than a milk chocolate and is not as smooth as I would expect. No bitterness from the caffeine was apparent. Easy to eat them all.  C+
• Chocolate peanut: Orange candy shell on the outside. Inside is the ame chocolate as the original with a peanut in the middle. The chocolate here works much better as it combines with the peanut inside. I like these a lot and as with the others no caffeine taste inside. Grade B
• Chocolate mint: Comes in a green shell. Beneath the shell are 2 layers. First is a light green mint cream then you have the chocolate inside of that.  It was very hard not to eat the whole box. The amount of mint vs the amount of chocolate was just right making for a great chocolate mint taste. You can’t even tell there is caffeine in these and I would eat them for taste alone. Grade A

Kick/Ingredients: So I tried different quantities of these on different occasions. 4 of them gives you a middle of the road buzz like your typical 8 oz energy drink. 8 of them gives you a much more intense buzz with a hint of jitters more like a 16 oz energy drink or good cup of Starbucks. 12 of these(entire box) will have you bouncing off the walls with crazy jittery energy. I really had only a slight crash after 4 hours. So as you see you can control how much energy you want. Each box contains from 12 to 15 bites. For a serving of 4 you get 80 mgs of caffeine and 32 mgs of Taurine.  They also include some modest amounts of B vitamins. This comes with 46 calories, 5.3 grams of carbs, and 4.6 grams of sugars. If you eat the entire box just multiply all that by 3. Overall I was very impressed. Grade A-

Web Presence: The site at outburstenergy.com is still kind of under construction. It seems it will be alright though based on its current design. You can find product info as well as a store at the moment with more stuff to come. They also have a Facebook and a Twitter .  I’ll give them a C+ for now.

So when it comes to energy candies you really can’t go wrong here. These taste very good, are a great value, and deliver a very good kick that you can adjust as you see fit.
