Red Light Energy drink Original Seduction
My wife actually saw this drink in a magazine I had and pointed it out. I could see why it would grab her attention. It has a sex appeal to it with its name and packaging. This from what I can gather is exactly what they have in mind. Of Course I used my skills to acquire some samples so I could review it before its debut on Valentines Day 2009.
Packaging: So starting out you have a nice 12 oz glass bottle in a black shrink wrap label. Glass is much more sexier than an aluminum can and the black makes it all the much more so. The bottle has a solid black twist off metal cap. On the neck of the bottle is a swirly red light. This light is not bright but is a dark lipstick red. On the middle of the bottle is the name “Red Light” in a seductive red cursive font. Towards the bottom is the flavor “Original Seduction” in an orange cursive font with a little red and orange circle above it. Finally at the bottom is reads “energy drink” in red cursive. The back has supplement facts. Well I think if sexy is what they have in mind then they did a pretty good job. The coloring and fonts work well and the bottle has minimal writing on it. Grade B- for packaging
Slogan: On the back of the bottle you have this “Turn it on with Red Light”. You know I always like a slogan that is not generic. This slogan is drink specific so I give it a grade of B for slogan.
Taste: Twisting off the lid I get a nice mellow front punch scent. It is not an overly strong scent like some drinks have. Pouring some in a glass it comes out a light pink color like you would see in a watermelon hard candy. I take a sip and it is a sweet tropical tasting fruit punch with hints of cherry (Acerola) and a little bit of a vanilla that finishes it off nicely. This is not one of those overly sweet fruit punch flavors that leaves you thirsty. I’d say the sweetness is mid level. The drink is mildly carbonated. I will have to say that this is one of the better fruit punch flavored drinks I have tried. It was quite enjoyable and as I was drinking it I was thinking it would also make a great mixer(good thing I have a second bottle). Grade B for taste. This one goes down easy with no artificial sweetener or HFC taste and zero bitterness.
Kick/Ingredients: I drank this at work and it provided me with a nice mid level boost that ramped up over a 15 minute period. The buzz was smooth and with no jitters. Surprisingly I got quite a lot done with out really thinking about it. I was in an awesome mood which I attribute to the Schizandra. I can see where this would be a great drink for a night on the town or alone at home with a significant other for a romantic evening. The mood enhancement with good focus made it easy to concentrate and I felt my senses somewhat heightened. I’d say my buzz and my mood lasted a good 3 or 4 hours with no crash. Key ingredients include 90 mg caffeine, 1000 mg taurine, 4mg ginseng, 1.5 mg Schizandra, Plenty of B vitamins, and some vitamin C. There are 140 calories, 35 grams of Carbs, and 34 grams of sugar. It is sweetened with Pure cane sugar. This was a pretty unique buzz I’d say and I will give it a grade of B- For pure Buzz it is above average and throwing in the mood enhancement kick it up a bit more.
Web Presence: Red Light just recently brought their site online. I am glad they waited until it was ready. The site at drinkredlight.com it pretty nice. It sticks with the Red Light sexy theme. It is easy to find your way around and include an about page, Product page with ingredients info, Recipes, news and events, fun and sexy, and more. Make sure you check out the recipes as they are top notch and sound fun (I will be trying some later). Really I enjoyed poking around the site and I think you will too. Check it out. Grade B

Well I think Red Light has its sights set on a certain market. They are going for sexy and smooth. It seems they want a party crowd but not like a frat party but more of an upscale party. This is not a blow your mind caffeine blast but more of a smooth have a few stay up late kind of drink. They nailed the sexy all around for sure and I think this drink will appeal to women easily. If you are looking for something to enhance your mood and give you smooth energy this is definitely something you should try. It is definitely more sexy to break this drink out while chilling with the opposite sex than say having a few Jagger bombs. Give it a try and as always let me know what you think .
