Rip It Mojito

I have been a long time fan of the drinks from Rip it. Value and variety wise they offer a lot. A month or 2 ago I noticed that they were coming out in a new 20 bottle with new flavors. It took some work but I finally got my hands of some. I thought I would start of with the most unique flavor first.
Packaging: Rip it Mojito comes in a nice 20 oz tall plastic bottle with a wide mouth and screw on lid. The bottle is shrink wrapped in a light blue green. Around the top in a black strip it reads “20 oz” a bunch of times. In the middle of the label is a nice looking starburst type design with the name “Rip It” in the middle in a nice black font. Towards the bottom in a white font is the flavor “mojito” followed by an image of a lime and mint leaf. This is all repeated on 2 sides of the bottle. On the side is supplement facts. I like the bottle for the most part except for the bottom which kind of has little feet built into it and ruins the flow of the shrink wrap. The bottle has a nice hour glass shape which makes it easy to grip and it is resealable. I will give it a grade of C for packaging. It is a nice idea but just not executed well.
Slogan: On the back is this “Rip it and Reseal it”. Ok I think they are really pushing the fact that they are now coming in a resealable bottle. They are going for the value angle which is what they are known for so not a bad job. Not fun or inspiring but still ok. Grade C+ for slogan
Taste: Twisting off the lid you get a nice mellow lime scent. I pour some n a cup and it is an aquamarine colored liquid which is pretty unique. The carbonation level is pretty low. I take a sip and it is a smooth lime flavor that is not overly tart and it finishes up with a hint of mint. This does mimic a Mojito flavor wise but for myself I just don’t care for it. It is not bitter or bad tasting but it is just not a flavor I want in an energy drink. Maybe as a mixer it would work. This is one you are going to love or hate and I fall into the later. I will give it a grade of D for taste. I won’t be trying this one again.
Kick/Ingredients: So I pretty much drank the whole 20 oz bottle. I was not wanting to save any for later. I was expecting a pretty good kick from this much but in the end I have to say the buzz I got was sub par. Usually Rip it drinks work well for me in the kick department but this one never really got me going. Don’t get me wrong I got a good buzz going and it lasted a solid 4 hours. The thing was it was more on par with your typical 12 to 16 average energy drink. I had a little crash at the end but nothing too bad. Looking at the ingredients I find 255 mg Caffeine, 2525 mg Taurine, Guarana, Inositol, 100% dv B vitamins, and a good dose of vitamin C. This comes with 325 calories and 82.5 grams of carbs and sugar. It is sweetened with HFC. I will give it a grade of D+ for kick/ingredients. It is a big drink with a lot of sugar and calories but does not provide enough energy to make it worth it.
Web Presence: I have been watching the website at ripitenergy.com for several months waiting for it to go live but nothing has changed there yet. It is pretty much just a static page with some images and a store locator. No real drink info at all. I give it a grade of D for web presence. What is the hold up?
Recap:
You know I have argued the virtues of Rip it drinks with people telling them that they were a great drink at a great value. I have drank a lot of Rip It drinks out of 16 oz cans and always been happy. I am hoping this Mojito was just a fluke and that the other 20 oz drinks they are releasing will restore my faith. Until that happens though I can’t recommend you try this one.
