Rockstar energy Gum  Iced Mint

So Rockstar is just coming out with new products right and left these days. Seems they are making a big push to gain some market somehow. This is one of the first major companies to come out with an energy gum lineup. There are 2 flavors but today I am only reviewing the Iced Mint flavor which is sugar free. These energy gums can be hit or miss so lets see if Rockstar is a winner or not.

Packaging:  It comes in the typical gum pack with a slide out foil pack holding 10 piecies of gum. The label on it is as you would expect with a nice big gold foil RockStar logo complete with gold star. The caffeine content is clearly listed right on front which is a big plus for me. Over all it is a pretty eye catching package. Grade B

Slogan: Nothing just for this gum but of course you have “Party Like A Rockstar” as the usual logo and it is one of the better ones out there. B+

Taste: Ok so here is where it usually gets pretty dicey. I have had some pretty bad tasting energy gums in the past. So I pop out 2 pieces and begin to chew them. As soon as I bite through the crunchy shell I get some seriously strong peppermint. I’m talking Altoids strong take your breath away mint. It is pretty overpowering at first then fades down to just a regular mint flavor. This strong mint smothers the energy ingredients very well with really no bitterness to speak of or after taste. Really you won’t be tasting anything for a while after chewing this gum. I like it and you will too if you like strong mint gum. I sure anyone you are close to will appreciate your minty freshness over the smell of the typical energy drink breath. Grade B

Kick/Ingredients:  The thing about gum is that it hits you fast since the ingredients are delivered sublingually through the membranes under the tongue. Rockstar gum was no exception. With in minutes I was energized where I had been fading fast, Invigorated where I had been nodding of, motivated where I had be slacking. You get the picture. I got a hard and fast buzz that lasted about 2 hours with no crash. Best part is there are 10 pieces in a pack so in two hours you can just chew 2 more. 2 pieces is the serving size and they contain 80 mg caffeine, 75 mg Taurine, 25 mg Inositol, and B vitamins in the 100% rda range.  There are 10 calories and 3 grams of carbs. There is no sugar and they are sweetened with Sucralose and Ace K. I think they did a bang up job here and give it a grade of B for kick/ingredients.  Potent but short lived

Web Presence: As I have said many times now go to rockstar69.com. Rockstar has multiple website for different countries, different Rockstar sports like surfing and mountain biking. They also have twitter, Myspace and Facebook covered. All of their websites are top notch and filled with hours of entertainment. Rockstar is the king when it comes to web presence. I don’t know how much they spend on maintaining their web presence but I am sure it is a lot. Visit and you will see what I mean.  Grade A

Recap:

I think Rockstar really nailed it when it comes to an energy gum. It is a great value with 10 pieces for the price of a typical energy drink. It is very portable and if you need more caffeine you can chew 3 or 4 pieces for a real boost. 4 pieces would give you 160 mg of caffeine and you would still have 6 pieces left for later. These are perfect for when you pick up that last call hookup at the club. You’re tired and your breath is not fresh from partying like a rockstar all night. The last thing you want to do is fall asleep during or after the hookup. This gum freshens your breath and allows you to slip out later before you sober up and realize your hot hook up has a wooden leg, 3 green teeth, and probably went to school with you mom.  Really though these would be great for a meeting, hot date, after lunch, ect. Anytime you might need fresh breath and energy this should be a go to product.
