Rockstar Recovery Lemonade

As always there is a lot of excitement when one of the bigger companies comes out with a new product. It is often a let down though after you have hit multiple stores every day trying to locate one of these new drinks. Sure you are thrilled when you finally find it but then often it is not what you had hoped for. Let’s hope this new recovery drink from Rock Star was worth the effort.
Packaging: O My this is a thing of beauty. Really when I saw this it my jaw dropped. I love the yellow can with the black top. Yes the entire top is black with only the pull tab being red. That is very different. I’ve never been a huge fan of Rockstar can but this one just really pops and looks great. Grade A
Slogans: Best I could come up with is “Party Like A Rockstar” from the Myspace page. Nothing special on this can which is too bad. Grade C+ I like the slogan but it is really not featured on the can or the website.
Taste ect: Ok so I pop the top and get a nice lemon scent. Pouring some out it is a pale yellow cloudy color that looks exactly like lemonade. There is no carbonation which was unexpected. This is a non carbonated drink. I take a sip and it is a nice smooth lemonade. It is only slightly tart/sour and not super sweet either. I found it to be pretty thirst quenching and it is chuggable. It does contain 3% lemon juice but avoids being too sour or tart. There was no bitterness or aftertaste. It also does not taste artificial even thou it is artificially sweetened. Over all I would say as a recovery drink it taste pretty good and I give it a grade of B.
Kick/Ingredients: With no carbonation I found myself drinking the entire can pretty quickly. I got a pretty good buzz with only a small bit of jitters. I was talkative and animated and generally in a great energized mood. I also felt somewhat refreshed. The buzz lasted a good 4 hours with little to no crash. Energy ingredients are than most Rockstar drinks and include per can 160 mg caffeine, 2000 mg Taurine, 100 mg Ginseng, 50 mg N Acetyl L-Cysteine, 40 mg Milk Thistle, A fair amount of B vitamins, and 50 mg Prickly pear extract. The biggest different is with the addition of the prickly pear and the N Acetyl L Cystein and the lack of Guarana and Ginko Biloba. It comes in at 20 calories and 1 gram of carbs and sugars. Not a strong amount of kick but easy on the waistline includes ingredients to help with a hangover. It is sweetened with Sucralose and ace k. Grade B- for kick/ingredients
Web presence: As a starting point go to rockstar69.com. Rockstar has multiple website for different countries, different Rockstar sports like surfing and mountain biking. They also have twitter, Myspace and Facebook covered. All of their websites are top notch and filled with hours of entertainment. To put it mildly Rockstar is the king when it comes to web presence. I don’t know how much they spend on maintaining their web presence but I am sure it is a lot. Visit and you will see what I mean. Grade A+
Recap:
So I think this was worth the effort to find. It looks awesome and unique, taste pretty good, and has an average kick with the addition of some cool recovery ingredients. It is also low calorie and low carb. It looks to me like they put some effort into this drink. I was so surprised to find it to be a non carbonated drink but that works well for its intended purpose. If your of age feel free to get hammered and let me know it if helps you recover. Even if you don’t drink I think this drink will help you recover from stress, exercise, marathon tantric sex, or whatever has got you run down. Check it out. Disclaimer. I bought this myself at a local gas station. It was like the 15th store I visited looking for this drink.
