Rockstar Roasted Vanilla
Rockstar Roasted light vanilla
Got my hand on the 2nd flavor of Rockstar Roasted. This one is Light vanilla and boast 50% less fat and calories. That is good because a lot of the coffee/energy drink hybrids tend to be full of fat and calories. I was looking forward to seeing how Rockstar pulled of the coffee drink in the light format
Packaging: Once again we have the 15oz can. It looks like your average 16oz can except it contains 1 less ounce. Not sure how I feel about the whole 15 oz size. Seems to me they are trying to slip one by you. Serving size is still 8oz so your actually getting less than 2 complete servings. Anyway the can is a nice design with the diagonal pattern that fades from an off white color into gold at the bottom. You have the Big Rockstar logo in gold and the name “Rockstar” in black with “Roasted” in white and “Coffee & Energy in gold” The way the do this makes each one stand out do you take in all the words. You also have “Light vanilla” on the front and they typical ingredients listed around the top. The “50% less fat & 50% fewer calories” is in a real small font on the front and I think they should have made it bigger as that is the point of a light drink. You also have “Rockstar” and “Roasted Light” vertical on the side in mixed colors again. Nice ingredients list on the back that is easy to read and informative. I have to give Rockstar a grade of B for this can. Nice sharp can that look classy and adult.
Slogans: Party Like a Rockstar is still one of the best slogans going. As I have said before I don’t really think coffee and partying like a rockstar go together but still a great slogan. It gets a grade of B+
Taste: So how was a lighter version of coffee energy going to taste? I could not wait to try it. I like coffee and coffee drinks and like to watch the fat and calories so I had high hopes. I was not let down. It is just slightly sweet and is not an overpowering vanilla flavor. There is less coffee taste to this one than the Rockstar Roasted Mocha I tried. It is light and refreshing. I did not feel thirsty after this drink since it was not too sweet. I like the fact that it is a thin drinks and not overly thick like the monster coffee drinks. I give this one a grade of B for flavor. Not as good as the mocha but still better than average.
Kick/Ingredients What about the kick. Like the other Rockstar Roasted drinks the light vanilla performs well in this category. 240mg of caffeine, 2000mg of taurine as well as the usual guarana 50mg, inositol; ginseng, and L-carnitine . Add your B vitamins and 14 grams of carbs and you got some good energy. There is 3 grams of fat and 100 calories in this drink. The top listed ingredient is brewed espresso coffee and there is 14 grams of sugar. I got a nice jitter free boost that got me through a boring class after not getting much sleep. The boost lasted several hours and I never got much of a crash. I give this drink a grade of B- Low sugar drinks seem to have a little less energy than there carb and sugar loaded brothers.
Web presence Well it is Rockstar so you know they have a nice website with the big money behind it you expect a top notch site. Rockstar has a site here for their Roasted drinks as well as tons of content on ingredients, sponsorships, models, videos , music ect. On top of that they have site specific to other countries like Rockstar Canada, Rockstar Australia, and Rockstar UK. These are not just mirror site but actually have different content. I have to give them an A for web presence. They pulled out all the stops.
Recap:
I really like these Rockstar Roasted drinks. They are a good change of pace. The light Vanilla is one you should try. I am not happy with the less than 2 complete servings but still it is better than paying the same for an 8oz drink. If you party like a rockstar the night before then Rockstar Roasted light vanilla might even help you recover in the morning.
