A Shock To The System
Shock Triple Mocha
You might say that an RTD coffee is not an energy drink but I will tell you what. Coffee is the great great great father of energy drinks. Coffee goes back to the 9th century! It is the original. I had heard that Shock coffee made some awesome drinks so when I got a chance I had to try them. I’ll do the Triple mocha first because next to caffeine, chocolate is tops in my world.
Packaging: Shock Coffee Triple Mocha comes in an 8oz slim can. The can is red and black. The flavor “Triple Mocha is printed all around the top. On the front is the Shock coffee logo which is super cool looking and it has “Triple” in the background vertical in a grayish font that looks very classy. There is a yellow line like a Richter scale or heart rate monitor vertical on the can that goes from flat line to very up and down. It portrays how you will feel after drinking shot coffee. There is also a little band of red on the top and bottom that list the key ingredients. There are also a couple of slogans we will go over later. The back has the usual Nutrition facts. I give them a grade of A for packaging. The super cool logo, fonts used, color scheme, and slogans make for a nice package.
Slogan: So many energy drinks miss the boat when it comes to slogans. Shock meanwhile is the captain of the boat with to of the best slogans I have seen on a can. Slogan on the front reads “Grab it. Shake it, Drink it” in a little circle. To the side on the front is the real slogan though. “Sleep Is Overrated” Wow that is the best energy slogan I have seen yet. I will give them a grade of A+ for slogans. They really get it.
Taste: Well if you like coffee and chocolate you’re not going to be disappointed here. Shook it well and it poured out a deep rich creamy brown color. It smells of premium coffee and chocolate. It is a mouthwatering smell to me and I could not wait to taste it. I take a sip and it is great. It is rich and chocolaty with a small amount of creaminess. The coffee flavor comes through at the finish and is smooth and not bitter at all. I will give it a grade of B+ for taste. Much better than a starbucks coffee RTD and much better than a Monster java.
Kick/ingredients. Ok so I don’t have an exact figure on how much caffeine is in this drink. It does have 3 shots of espresso though so let’s assume a minimum of 77mg and a maximum of 100 mg of caffeine per shot. That is a lot of sweet caffeine per can! I got a serious boost that lasted several hours. The ingredients are top notch to boot. Espresso coffee, pure cane sugar, whole milk, and ground cocoa. No HFC here! I will give Shock Triple Mocha a grade of B+ for kick. Not super long lasting but fast and potent.
Web presence: Shock does not skimp in the web presence department either. shockcoffee.com or shockcoffeeshop.com is a top notch site filled with information. It has a faq, News section, store, and a cute little character that pops up here and there. I will give them a grade of B for web presence. Not a super exciting site but well laid out and fun. You also get a ton of his if you search for shock coffee.

Well whether you think this qualifies as an energy drink or not I have to say it kicks many a drink in the ass. I had to fight off several relatives and friends from drinking all my shock Triple Mocha drinks. They taste awesome, look nice, and kick your ass energy wise. Get some now I say.
