Slap Red Tea Energy

Finally I got my hands on some of the Slap drinks. I have read about them and they sounded good. I have always liked the Slap logo as well. They have a huge lineup of drinks and that always intrigues me.
Packaging: Slap Red tea Energy comes in your usual 16 oz can. The can is silver in the middle with a cranberry red colored pattern at the top and bottom portions. In the top red portion is “Energy 9.0” in a yellow font along with “Multi-stage energy supplement” in white font. In the middle section is a big slap logo which consist of a black handw glowing red with a grimacing smiley face character with sun glasses in the middle of the hand. It’s like the face is being slapped in the back of the head. In the bottom portion is the name “Red Tea energy in a really nice font along with the phrase “Lightly Carbonated” and the flavor “Citrus” in a yellow font. The back has supplement facts and a cool little paragraph about the drink. I really like the look of this can and the logo is one of the more unique ones I have seen. Grade B for packaging.
Slogan: I could not really find a slogan except for the “Energy 9.0”. While it might not be a true slogan it is interesting and catches your eye and imagination. I will give them a grade of C for slogan.
Taste: Red Tea? Never had red tea before. The flavor is listed as citrus. I pop open the top and the scent is all tea. Pretty similar to green tea in smell and fairly pleasant. I pour some in a glass and it comes out looking similar to a green tea but maybe more toward yellow in tint. Very pale in color. It has a good dose of carbonation as well. I take a sip and it starts off as kind of a green or white tea flavor and evolves into a tangerine and orange flavor at the finish. The Tangerine and orange flavor is light and blends with the tea flavor not overpowering it. The combo of carbonation and the light flavors makes for a really enjoyable drink. Grade B+ for taste.
Kick/Ingredients: This drink tasted really good so I drank it pretty quick. I was not hit quickly by the power but had a gradual build up of good strong energy that was not jittery and had 0 crash. The energy seemed to last longer than your average drinks going 5+ hours. I was alert and got through the afternoon slump and into the evening easily. I think it is the 9.0 energy blend that makes this energy long lasting. You get these 9 key ingredients Isomaltulose, Guarana, Taurine, Caffeine(I think about 200mg), Yerba mate, B3, B6, and Fructose. That makes nine but then you have B12 as well so it’s more like energy 10.0 to me. The Isomaltulose is something new to me. It is a unique sweetener with a low glycemic response that is slowly digested for prolonged energy with no crash. There are 168 calories. 36 grams of carbs, and 34 grams of sugars. I have to give them a grade of B+ It’s not the most powerful but it is smooth and long lasting with no crash at all.
Web Presence: I like the website at slapdrinks.com. It is a fun site to visit that is easy to navigate. It has product info, energy 9.0 info, Team Slap, events, and more. They also have a Myspace that is up-to-date and good as well. Not the most awesome site I have ever seen or anything but still pretty good. B- for the webpresence
Recap:
Wow I am really surprised at how much I enjoyed this drink. I am not a big tea drinker but this one might change my mind. The taste was great. The smooth long lasting buzz was better than I expected as well. I can’t wait to try all the slap drinks now. Give them a try and let me know what you think.
