Spike Shotgun Orange Gold
Ok it took a while but I got my hands on the elusive Spike Shotgun orange Gold flavor. Thanks to G the providerfor hooking me up. The original Spike Shotgun was a extremely powerful drink that was only lacking in taste. I’m hoping the Orange Gold improves on the taste.
Packaging: Spike Shotgun Orange Gold comes in the typical 16 oz aluminum can. Around the top is an orange ring which represents the flavor. Below this ring is a warning “Read Entire label before Drinking” in a gold font. The rest of the can is black with gold accents. Diagonal on the can is the name “Spike” in a big orange font over the top of a jagged gold spike image. The logo is also there along with the phrase “hardcore energy drink” back has supplement facts and a cool little paragraph that is all attitude. Grade B for packaging
Slogans: I like their slogans. “Get Spiked” is drink specific and aggressive and “Hardcore to the bone” is super aggressive and represents the attitude well. B+ for slogan
Taste ect: So I pop the top and out comes a nice orange smell. The smell is different than an orange soda and has a more artificial tinge to it. Pouring some in a cup it comes out a golden orange color. It is very translucent with a lot of carbonation. The carbonation dissipates very quickly and is misleading in the cup. I take a sip and is a sweet sweet orange flavor that is tart and tangy with a load of artificial sweetener taste to it. It is very dry at the finish. This is the driest drink I have tried. I think the fact it is sweetened only with Sucralose hurts the taste. I think a blend of sweeteners like Ace k or Aspertame would smooth it out some. D+ for taste. I was hoping for better taste than the original but instead it got worse.
Kick/Ingredients: Ok so there is a warning on the can and I suggest you heed it. I downed this bad boy at work and in 15 minutes I was having trouble talking because the words were coming out so fast. Really I was so wired I had to leave the lunch room. I was jittery and just amped up so bad I was afraid people would think I was on drugs or something. I could barely finish the drink. Spike Shotgun Orange Gold has 350 mg of caffeine, 33,333% of your DV for B12, N-Acetyl-L-tyrosine, and Beta-alanine. There are 0 calories and o carbs. That is all that’s in it really and somehow it kicks like a rabid mule on steroids that is having a bad day. I am the Edjunkie and I have to say that as far as kick goes this is probably one of the top 3 energy products you can buy legally. Use with care and maybe share a can with someone at first to see if you can handle it. It was 2 days ago when I tried this drink and just thinking about it has my heart racing. Grade A+ for kick/ingredients
Web presence: SpikeShooter.com really has not been updated since about 2006. Their myspace page has not been logged into in months either. It is too bad since they really need to get their product noticed more. With proper marketing and distribution this product would be a killer. Get with the program guys. Grade D- for web presence

What can I say. Spike Shotgun Orange Gold will really blow the top of your head off. If you are under 18 you might want to skip this drink. If you weigh 90 lbs I would say pass on this. If you are in good health and want the kind of energy that makes you want to break furniture or run repeatedly into a brick wall this could be your drink. If I had a job where I was supposed to demolish an abandoned home I would stock up on Spike Shotgun and do it with my bare hands. No need for tools since they would just slow you down. I think you get the message right! Super powerful crazy energy in a less than pleasant tasting drink. But if you’re an edjunkie like me you won't care about the taste as long as it kicks your azz.
