Gettin fizzy with it

Superfly Energy effervescent tabs

I had seen these in the past but I was skeptical. I have since broadened my horizons after doing a little research. For Approximately 5 bucks you get six effervescent tabs that you mix with water to make 6  average energy drinks or 3 kick ass energy drinks. Let’s see how it goes. I am going to review all 3 flavors at once.

Packaging: Superfly comes in a cool little metal tube with a funky plastic lid. Each flavor has a matching colored plastic lid as well as a matching colored line with the flavor written in it on the tube. The name Superfly is in front of a colored tribal type graphic with “energy drink tabs” printed below.  It reads “Just Drop a tab in H2O” and it also list Taurine, Guarana, Caffeine, B-Vitamins on the front as well. On the back it lists ingredients, the web address, and a disclaimer. That’s a lot for a small 3 inch tall tube. It is still all printed clearly and is east to read. I will give them a B+ for packaging. For a small form package you just don’t get much better. It looks cool, fits in the hand well, and gets all the info you need out there. The lid reseals very good as well.

Slogans:  Not really a slogan on the tube but on their site they have two. The main one is “Energy on Demand” but they also have “Drop, Fizz, Fly” Both are good but I really like the Drop fizz Fly one. Very catchy. I’ll give them a B for slogan

Taste ect:  So how will the tabs taste when dissolved in water? They say you can mix with 8 to 16 ounces of water. I tried 1 tab in 16 ounces and it was not very sweet. 1 tab in 8 ounces makes a sweeter drink.  You have 3 flavors and I’ll go over them separately here.

  1. Citrus Kick. Well I was expecting  a more citrus flavor but what I got was a classic energy drink flavor without the carbonation. Not bad and much more drinkable than your average RB clone type drink.
  2. Fruit Punch. Well it is fruit punch. It has a nice sweet fruity punch taste with some cherry up front. It is a typical fruit punch flavor but a damn good one. Just dissolved in water I was surprised at how good it tasted and this was my favorite. It went down smooth and if you wanted it sweeter you can use less water. I liked mine mixed with 8ounces. It was still not overly sweet.
  3. Orange Squeeze. Well it is orange and depending on how you mix it is either like an orange Gatorade or like an orange juice box. Not an orange juice flavor but a sweet orange drink flavor.

Overall I give them a B for taste. They all taste good. Some flavors I like better than others. These Tabs also dissolve better than any powder mixes I have tried so far.

Kick/Ingredients: I have to tell  you I tried a lot of these tabs in the last few weeks. Why? Well they get the job done. 1000mg of Taurine and 150mg of Caffeine topped off with a bunch of B-vitamins(including 25000% of the dv for B-12). Get you started then they throw in L-Carnitine, L-Arginine, Creatine, Ginko Biloba, Grape seed, and Ginseng. Only 4 calories,1 gram of carbs, and .5 grams of sugar. I got a big kick in quick fashion each time I tried Superfly. The buzz was strong and lasted several hours easily. If you’re really tired throw 2 tabs in a 16 oz bottle of water and you got a really serious energy drink with 2000 mg of Taurine and 300 mg of Caffeine. That is a drink that can hang with the big boys for sure. I give them a grade of A- for kick. You can control how much kick you want but 1 or 2 tabs will get you going no matter who you are.

Web presence:  Superfly has a nice little site at superflyenergy.com. There is all the necessary information on the tabs like ingredients, and where to buy.  It is a nice design but needs more information. They only list GNC as where to buy butyou can purchase Superfly at amazon.com and there is no like for it on the Superfly site. They need to run with the cool flash design but increase the content. You get a few hits on google but not a lot. I’ll give them a grade of C for their web presence.

Recap:

Superfly is a great product. I tried these many times over several weeks. I kept a tube in my lunch box, a tube in my car, a tube in my garage. Every time I needed a boost and was not doing a review for another drink I reached for these. A glass of water or a bottle of water is all you need. These are super handy, taste good, low calorie, and kick as hard as you like. The price is good even if you use 2 tabs per drink it cost less than your average 16oz energy drinks and if you use 1 tab at a time it is way cheaper than a typical 8 oz energy drink.
