Syzmo Original organic energy drink.
This is the second in my series of healthier energy drinks. Syzmo was one of the first energy drinks to be organic and made with blue agave. I tried it back then when it had a lame can design and was really not a drink I enjoyed much. They changed the can but did they change the flavor?
Packaging: Syzmo (sizz-mo) original come in a nice blue 12 oz slim can. The blue can has a back ground design that look kind of paisley in design. It goes well with the organic theme. The name of the drink is horizontal across the can with the words organic energy above. At the very top is a little agave plant with the words Blue Agave in the middle of it. The can also has the words Vitamins and antioxidants towards the bottom with a USDA Organic logo below that. I think they got all out of the design that they could. It is a nice looking can that gets you a lot of information with one look. You know this is a healthier energy drink. I’ll give them a B- for design. Nice look and information packed but does not make you say wow.
Slogans: No real slogan of phrase on the can. The only thing that comes close is on their website it says “Better than juice”. I’m gonna have to give them a D for slogan.
Taste ect: I remember not liking the first product Syzmo put out so I was ready to not like this one. I was wrong. Pouring some in a glass I got the usual Red Bull scent which I did not expect. Syzmo original comes out a golden yellow and very translucent. This is a very different look than I have seen in an energy drink. It looks refreshing and has light carbonation. I have a sip. Interesting flavor in that It smell like Red bull, looks like a crystal pineapple juice but taste like neither. The taste is unique and honey like. It has a real natural organic flavor. I guess this is the Blue Agave flavor. This is nothing like a Full Throttle Blue Demon which is supposed to be Blue Agave flavor. It is much better. Really hard to describe the flavor but you should try it. I’ll give them a grade of B- for flavor. It is very unique, better than average, but not really thirst quenching. I never had the urge to just pour it down. It is more of a sipping drink
Kick/Ingredients: So far this is a better than average drink but I think this is the area where it will score the best. Syzmo original is sweetened with Organic Blue Agave syrup and packed with a lot of good for you ingredients. It has 100% RDA of vitamin C, a lot of B vitamins, Calcium, and Zinc. The energy ingredients include Organic coffee fruit concentrate, Guarana, Yerba mate, and green tea. This makes for about 120 mg of caffeine. Nice healthy list of ingredients I say and that’s is a decent amount of caffeine so I’ll give them a grade of B for Kick/ ingredients. I defiantly got a good medium boost that lasted longer than I expected with no real crash.
Web presence: Syzmo has a nice little site at syzmo.com. It is a flash based site with a tropical design to it. This works well with the drink I think. There is a lot of nutritional and ingredients information as well as a notice that Bevnet picked named them as one of the best of 2007. There is supposed to be a lot of other stuff there but it seems most of it is “coming soon” so I guess they are still working on it. I will give them a C- for web presence. The site is under construction but at least has the nutritional info. If you Google syzmo you will also find reviews and stories for their drinks.

Syzmo original really is a good healthy drink. It’s packed with premium ingredients and they provide a lot of vitamins and antioxidants. The taste is unique and enjoyable with a mid range kick of energy. I can’t wait to try their other flavors. Drinking this will be a lot better for you than your average HFC packed energy drink. Give it a shot !
