It’s getting harder and harder to stand out in the crowded energy shot market. Still there are people out there coming up with unique ways to do this though. Tomic caught my eye with its unique packaging. I contacted the company and the were nice enough to send me a few samples. Let’s see what it is all about
Packaging: So Tomic comes in a 2.5 oz shot bottle. This is no ordinary shot bottle. It’s really fat and pineapple shaped and looks like a hand grenade. The green shrink wrap label continues in this vein with a green grenade pattern and even a little silver pull pin graphic on the lid. I think they did a really awesome job here and this shot will stand out well and catch your eye with its design. The silver Tomic logo is just icing on the cake. Grade A- for packaging
Slogan: “Explosive Focus” is front and center on the shot and it works well with both the ingredients as well as the design. Great job on this one guys. I love a drink specific slogan and this one covers all bases. Grade A-
Taste: So I open the top and get a typical energy shot scent like you might get from 5 Hour or many other shots. Pouring it in a cup it comes out a pale pink color. I take a sip and it has a pretty generic mixed fruit flavor or mixed berry. Nothing really stands out but it is not bitter and it is not super sweet. It is tart and citric though and that covers the ingredients well. While it is nothing new or exciting it is your average shot flavor done pretty well. Grade C+
Kick/Ingredients: So I tried Tomic on 2 occasions and I felt it was a pretty good shot that delivered exactly what your average shot is supposed to and a little more. Each time I tried it I was at work and having that after lunch slump where I was tired and unfocused. Within the usual 10 to 15 minutes Tomic had blasted away the fuzzy mind and the scratchy eyes. I was alert and focused with a good non jittery energy. I was easily able to get the rest of my days work done and done well. It was a nice smooth buzz that allowed me to focus, communicate, and just get things done. It was nothing over the top or extreme but it was just right to get through the last 3 to 4 hours of work and then have no crash at the end. Tomic is powered by Caffeine(undisclosed), Glucuronolactone, N Acetyl L Tyrosine, L-phenylalanine, Taurine, Malic Acid, Choline and B Vitamins including 8333% of DV for B12, and 2000% DV for B6. You get this with 5 calories and 1 gram of carbs. It is sweetened with Sucralose. I’ll give them a grade of C+ for kick/ingredients.
Web Presence: They have a site at tomicenergyshot.com but they are just getting it going and though it looks nice it does not have much content yet. They also have a Facebook which is up to date. I’ll give them a grade of Na for now

Ok so Tomic comes in a package that is a lot more unique and cooler looking than your average shot. In the taste and kick department it is slightly above average and delivers what I consider the perfect amount of focus and energy for school or work. You don’t want an over the top level of energy while trying to study at school or function in a meeting at work. This would make a pretty good replacement for fans of 5 Hour energy shots I think.
