I shoulda had a V8

V8 Vfusion energy    Peach mango  and  Pomegranate Blueberry

Ok so with all the news out there about energy drinks being bad for you I am surprised that more people don’t know there are healthier energy drink options. I think maybe because the healthier drinks are made by small companies usually. Here though we have a major company getting in on the act. Campbell soup company is a big company for sure. Their flagship drink is the V8 line. I was thrilled to learn that they were coming out with 2 new drinks. V8 V-Fusion energy. Both made with fruit and vegetable juice and green tea extract. I was glad to get my hands on these and here is the scoop.

Packaging:  8 oz silver can. Ok so each of these cans has a ton of info on them. Usually I would consider it cluttered but this is a different animal. With a drink like this the info on it’s healthy aspect is important and also it is aimed at a different consumer. The info on the front is clear and the V8 logo is prominently displayed which is good. The images of the fruit are a little dull and kind of blend in with the background fusion swirl. On the back is a ton of great info though and the caffeine content is clearly listed. I’ll give them a solid C+ for packaging.

Slogan: None yet but since it is so new and there is not even any info on their site yet I’ll give them an NA for now

Taste:

Kick/Ingredients: So after drinking one of these(which made me feel like I was actually doing something good for myself) I got a nice little lift. I’d say the resulting energy was very similar to my morning cup of coffee or a small red Bull. I hand a nice alertness and I felt ready to go. The energy had had lasted me a good 3 hours with no crash and got my day off to a good start. The only thing powering this drink is 80 mg of caffeine from green tea concentrate. Then there are the ingredients that really set these drinks apart. 50% juice from a variety of fruits and vegetables that adds up to one serving of fruits and Veggies. You also get some good vitamins like A, C, E,  and some B vitamins as well. There is also some calcium.  The main ingredients listed are Juice and water. You get this with only 50 calories, 10 grams of sugars, and 13 grams of carbs. It is sweetened by the juice and sucralose.   I’ll give it a grade of B- for kick/ingredients. It gets a C for kick but is bumped up for the good stuff in here.

Web Presence:  On the can it list v8vfusion.com.  For now it just takes you to the V8 juice site. It is a good site for sure clean, easy to use and informative. Well worth looking at. No info on the new Energy drinks yet but I feel confident there will be some soon. Nicely done!  There is also a Facebook Grade B

Recap:

Ok so while this drink might not be a powerhouse of caffeine and energy it is definitely something I could drink on a regular basis. I know I can always use more Fruits and veggies in my diet and since it is so healthy I don’t see a problem with having 2 or 3 cans a day. To top it off these are very inexpensive. I saw a 6 pack at Walmart for 3.98. So if you are looking for a healthy energy option I think you have one of the better ones here.
