Vuka Awaken

Ok as so as I saw the awesome packaging I knew I had to get my hands on these drinks from Vuka. After doing a bit more research into their products and their company I really knew this is a line of drinks that everyone needed to know about. Lucky for me I was able to get Vuka to hook me up with some samples.

Packaging: Ok this is an awesome premium package here. It’s a fat 16 oz orange brushed aluminum bottle with a lid that is a shade darker than the bottle.  The lid is interesting in that it has plastic threading that the aluminum lid screws onto. This provides a superior seal.  The graphics on the bottle front at minimal and fit in well with the drinks name. Vuka means wake up in Zulu. Grade A for packaging.

Slogan: “Intelligent Energy” is right on the front of the bottle and it is perfect. The theme of the various Vuka drinks is that you need different energy drinks for different purposes. This is a great slogan that works very well with that theme. Grade A-

Taste: I twist off the lid and get a very nice orange juice scent. Pouring some in a cup it comes out looking like a weak orange juice. To my surprise it has no carbonation. I never expected a drink like this to be noncarbonated.  Taking a sip I get a really nice light orange juice flavor up front. There is a hint of pear in there also and at the very end I get some apple as well. This drink goes down smooth as an early morning drink and it is chuggable since it is not carbonated. Perfect for those wanting to hit the ground running. There is no bitterness or aftertaste at all. I think it is a great substitute for your morning OJ. Grade A-

Kick/Ingredients: It is 2 servings but of course I drank the whole bottle. I got a nice boost in 15 or so minutes. It was a pretty smooth buzz with no jitters. It is definitely on par with a large morning coffee. The buzz lasted about 3 hours with no crash at all. Vuka Awaken has the following ingredients per bottle to get you going. 160 mg of natural caffeine, 200% DV of your B vitamins, 50 mg Ginseng, white Tea polyphenols, and grape seed extract. Then you have 50% Dv Vitamin E, 200% Dv Vitamin C, 50% Dv Vitamin A, Calcium, and Zinc. To top it off it is 50% juice(white grape, Pear, Apple, Orange) and is sweetened with sugar. You get 180 calories 46 grams of carbs, and 44 grams of sugars. This is not a huge kick but it does have some quality healthy ingredients to bring up the score. Grade B for kick/ingredients

Web Presence: The site at vuka.com is a pretty fun and cute site. It has a lot of cool product info as well as their story, a store, Faq, Events, a blog, Newspaper, and a cool Vuka Vibe section with wall papers, screensavers, and playlist. Really a fun site to poke around on. They also have Twitter and Facebook. Grade A- for web presence

Recap:

Ok this is the first of their drinks I’m trying and it is aimed at taking the place of your morning coffee and orange juice all rolled into one drink. It is really tasty and provides a quality boost to get you going. It also has a nice line up of vitamins and antioxidants along with natural sugar and juice. I think this is one of the best OJ type morning drinks I have tried so far. Be on the look out for this one. You will be happy when you find one. I know I was. Thanks to Vuka for this sample
