Wave energy drink Sugar Free

Ok so I enjoyed the original Wave energy drink a while back. I am hoping that the sugar free version is just as good. Some companies really botch the sugar free versions of their drinks. I am not expecting Wave to be one of those since they have some experience in the company.
Packaging: I still don’t have the latest can design from Wave but for the sake of the review I will be doing the new can design instead of the can I have in my possession which was an earlier version. The new can design is a big improvement over the old one. It has a nice refreshing look to it. They really do a good job with minimal clutter and sticking to the whole wave theme. It’s a pretty nice package I think. It’s not one that screams energy at you but then again it is not going for an extreme type market. Grade B
Slogan: “Taste the Wave” is on their website and I still think it is a decent slogan. Once again it is not screaming energy at you but it does give me the impression of refreshing and natural. Grade B
Taste: Well I open the can and get the expected typical energy drink scent. Pouring some in a cup it comes out a reddish purple color with a medium carbonation. I take a sip and there is some white grape, apple and a little berry at the finish. It is similar to a RB type clone except without the bubble gum/cotton candy finish. This drink is surprisingly lightly sweetened. Sugar free drinks often are overly sweet and artificial tasting. Wave has avoided this though and the drink tastes natural and very similar to a full sugar drink. Great job on the sweetening guys! Grade B+
Kick/Ingredients: Well I was on my first night shift and around midnight I was really tanking hard. I to a break and downed this drink. I gradually over the next 15 minutes felt my energy level(and eyelids) rise. This is one of those buzzes that does not hit you hard but before you realize it you have been alert and going a good and getting stuff done. This buzz sneaks up on you. I was easily alert for the next 4 hours and it was super smooth with no crash. I don’t know the amounts but wave is powered by Caffeine, Taurine, Guarana, Inositol, Choline , L-Lysine and a fair dose of B vitamins. You get this with 15 calories, 0 grams of sugars, and 1 gram of carbs. The drink is sweetened aspartame and Ace K. I think this sweetener combo explains why the sweetness level is low. Usually Ace k is combined with Sucralose which is very sweet. I give it a grade of B- for kick/ingredients. This was a nice smooth buzz and it is made with natural ingredients(aside from the sweeteners). Grade B-
Web Presence: The site at waveenergydrink.com has improved a lot since my last review. There is a lot more content like sports they sponsor, product info, a store, and more. It is still under a bit of construction but it is improving. They also have Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace Grade C+
Recap:
So Wave managed to make a really good sugar free version. They avoided the usual over sweetness and artificial taste of so many other sugar free drinks. As for kick it’s one I think would be most suited for studying, working at the office, or any thing that requires a smooth level of alertness and focus. If you see some I say give it a shot. It is one of the better sugar free drinks I have tried in a while.
Thanks to Wave for the samples.
