Wild Stallion Orange Mango

Up until now I had only seen Wild Stallion energy drinks at my local convenience Store served from the soda fountain. I don’t often buy fountain drinks so I always skipped it. Now it seems they are offering their drinks in cans and I am anxious to give them a try. I’ll start out with this flavor since I am a big fan of mango flavored drinks.
Packaging: I’m glad to see they are offering up a 16 oz aluminum can. The can for this flavor is shrink wrapped in a grey label. Not sure why this flavor is shrink wrapped because their other flavors are printed. The label is black around the top and around the bottom. The flavor is printed in the top black portion. In the middle of the label is the Wild Stallion logo. I like the logo with its orange wild stallion head with a burst pattern behind it and the bold fonts used. This logo looks energetic. Towards the bottom it list key energy ingredients. All of this is on the back of the can as well. Nutrition facts are listed on the side of the can. Grade C for packaging. Not a big fan of the shrink wrap but I do like the stallion logo.
Slogans: Nothing on the can but on the web I found this one “It’s time for you to join the stampede” which is pretty cool I think and it is specific to the brand. Grade B for slogan. They should put the slogan on the can
Taste: Popping the top I get a nice orange juice type scent. I pour some in a cup and it comes out a cloudy orange color with a medium heavy carbonation. Even though it contains no juice it looks juice like. Taking a sip I get a nice sweet mango flavor followed by some orange juice type taste. The mango flavor seems to linger nicely at the finish with no bitterness. I like that the mango and orange flavors taste more juice like than I expected and do not taste like an artificial flavor at all. The 2 flavors also blend well together and there is something more complex going on that I can’t pin down.. Grade B for taste
Kick/Ingredients. After I drank this wild stallion drink I got a nice boost of energy in the usual amount of time. It was not over the top energy but was just what you expect from your average 16 oz energy drink. This drink got me through a brutal meeting at work were I was in serious danger of falling asleep while people droned on about things that did not concern me. It was a smooth boost that lasted me a good 3 hours with just a slight crash at the end. Wild Stallion gives you a nice line up of ingredients with Caffeine, Taurine, Ginseng, Guarana, Inositol, Glucuronolactone, Glucose, and a fair dose of B vitamins. You get 240 calories and 30 grams of carbs and sugars. I don’t know how much of the energy ingredients are in the drink but I am guessing the usual amounts. Grade C for kick/ingredients
Web presence: They have a website at trotfaster.com but there is really very little there except some pictures of the products and some contact info. If you want to find out anything else you have to visit the parent company at imbibeinc.com where at least you can find some ingredients info. Grade D for web presence
Recap:
Well this was not a bad drink but was not real special either. I enjoyed the taste a lot and the kick was typical. If you like the kick from your average energy drink then this drink would be nice for a change of pace. It will give you energy and it taste good. Hard to go wrong with that combo. I think the goal of the whole goal of the Wild Stallion line of drinks is to replace what your are already drinking but at a better price.
