Worx Energy shot Extra strength
Ok not sure if you know it but Monster Hitman shots are going away. Sure they were one of the top sellers but they still could not hold a candle to 5 hour energy. 5 Hour is the top dog by a big margin in the shot market. So now Hansen is switching to a shot aimed to try and get a bigger share of the 5 Hour market. 5 hour appeals more to the masses. All ages and all backgrounds. Professionals, moms, workers, students. 5 Hour has a wide market like no one. I guess Monster appeals more to a younger edgier crowd while 5 hour is easily accepted by all. You won’t see Hansen mentioned on this new Worx shot but trust me they are behind it. Lets see how it performs.
Packaging: I like the wide mouth bottle. It is pretty much your typical white plastic 2 oz shot bottle aside from the big mouth. The design is definitely more adult and middle of the road. My only issue is that it looks somewhat generic with the black and white split. I almost expected it to be a “Great Value” shot or something with the coloring. You got some little gears on the black side and that are ok. The text on the black side is hard to read especially on the lid where you can hardly make out the word “effective”. Sorry Hansen but this design is just bland. I will give them a plus for the extra safety seal under the lid. Grade D+
Slogan: “Power up your day with Worx, the next-generation of energy” is on their site and I guess it is ok. The first part works well for their intended market. The “Next-generation” is just not impressive though since this shot seems pretty much typical in ingredients. Grade C+
Taste: Well no flavor is listed and mine is the first review of this on the net(that I could find). I have no idea what to expect. I open the lid and pour out the orangish pink colored liquid. The scent is kind of orange in smell. I take a sip and it taste pretty good. It is orange for the most part but then there is a hint of mixed fruit in there as well. It is pretty sweet and very tart at the finish. There is not bitterness or vitamin taste at all. I’d have to say as for taste they have beat 5 hour. This is a pretty tasty shot. Grade B+
Kick/Ingredients: So I was on my second night shift when I downed this shot about midway through the night. It hit me in about 15 minutes and I had a nice smooth burst of energy. For the first 20 minutes it was pretty intense and almost jittery but then it settled down well for a good focused energy that allowed me to work a lot at my desk and really get through some paperwork and boring task. I had a clear mind and really seemed in a good mood while I worked away at stuff I had been putting off doing. The buzz lasted me just shy of 4 hours with no crash at the end. So what powers this extra strength version? Well it is the infamous 2500 energy blend (sound familiar Monster drinkers?). The blend consist of Caffeine, Taurine, Inositol, Glucuronolactone, L-Arginine, Tyrosine , L- Phenylalanine, Malic Acid, and L-Carnitine L-tartrate (LCLT). It also has a 8333% dv of B12 and 2000% dv of B6 along with other B vitamins. Sadly there is no enzyme blend which explains why it fall sort of 5 hours. You get all this with no calorie, sugar, or carbs. It is sweetened with Sucralose. Grade of B for kick/ingredients
Web Presence: The site at worxenergy.com is just as lame and generic as the bottle. I mean if this was a small company with limited funds I could see be. I expect much more from the guys behind Monster when it comes to web presence. There is minimal(almost none) ingredients info and pretty much no other content to speak of. They do have a Facebook. Kind of disappointing really and it was very hard to find while searching the web using Google or Yahoo. Grade C-

Ok so there are several pluses here. This design will appeal to a wider audience for sure. The taste is very good and the kick is pretty strong. Will it take down 5 hour? I think not. It does loose points for not lasting 5 hours. All that aside I have to say it is better than a lot of shots out there. I am happy with only 4 hours of energy as long as it is good energy and the shot delivers that. It was focused and intense. They really got the taste down well also so I can say it is worth you trying. I’d love to hear what you have to say once you have tried it.
