Having a Blast

XS Cherry Blast

In the game of MLM energy drink this is one of the first and one of the longest lived. That tell me something right there. I’ve had several people contact me and want me to review some XS drinks. I got a few from a trade with the guys at energy drink heaven. So I am glad to oblige those request now.

Packaging: Start with your typical 8.4 oz can. The label is a dark red color with a big “XS” logo in the middle. The logo is an orange fade color. The logo is on top of a big bunch of jumbled words. You can’t read most of them but the ones you can are energy related. The can itself is covered with a lot of text. On the front and also the back the entire label is very busy. Sure it gets you a lot of info but it is a bit overwhelming. I’ll give it a grade of C- for packaging. It’s not ugly or anything. It just seems to be trying too hard.

Slogan: I found 2 candidates. On the can you have “All of the energy none of the sugar” and on the website “Premiumenergy  Explosivetaste” I like the one on the site best. Not sure why the words run together but it is still not bad. Grade C+ for slogan.

Taste: I chose cherry blast first because cherry flavor is not in a lot of energy drinks. I pop the top and get a cherry scent with a hint of muskiness. Pouring some in a glass it comes out a pale pink color with a heavy level of carbonation. Taking a sip I get s barely sweet cherry with a big follow up of pomegranate. It does say powered by Pomegranate on the can in small letters but the Pomegranate is the more dominate flavor here by far over the cherry. There is a bit of bitterness at the finish. I give it a grade of C- for taste. With a name like Cherry Blast I expected a bold cherry taste not a bold Pomegranate taste.

Kick/Ingredients:  I was working around the house outside and my energy was waning when I grabbed this drink from the fridge in my garage. I drank it down and in the usual 15 minutes or so I felt my level of energy increase somewhat. I would say it got to a mid level with no jitters but not much more. I got all my work done and my buzz lasted about 3  to 4 hours with no crash. I have to say I was a bit disappointed as I was expecting a bigger buzz. So what’s in XS? Caffeine, Panax Ginseng, Siberian Ginseng, Panax quinquefolium, Schisandra, Astragalus, Reishi, and a bunch of B vitamins including 4900% Dv for B12. There are 8 calories and no carbs or sugar. That is a wild lineup of ingredients but it just did not deliver like I expected. Grade C-

Web Presence: The website at xsblast.com is not bad at all for an MLM type company the site is refreshingly free of too much MLM stuff. Instead the focus on selling you the product directly and not getting you to sell it for them. The site is nice looking and provides some information but not a lot. It has a store and an product section along with a faq and science section. I think they should include more info on the herbs in their drinks. Some of these herbs are very unique and it would be nice to read more about them. Overall it is a pretty good site and I give it a grade of B

Recap:

There is good and bad in this drink. Good is no calories, no sugar, good vitamins and herbs, and taste good. Bad is weak kick, and availability (MLM only).  Overall I had a pleasant experience and will look forward to trying the other flavors. I say give this drink a try if you don’t need a big boost and want a healthy drink. I will say as far as MLM drinks go XS offers the biggest variety and a better coast than most.
